What Is Cosmetic Gum Surgery?
As the name suggests, cosmetic gum surgery is a minor procedure designed to change the shape of the gums, and thus their appearance.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

It is performed primarily when the gums are swollen or irregularly surround the teeth, encroaching on the crown or falling too high (or low) on it. This kind of situation can be linked to physiognomy (the way the tissues are naturally arranged) or to a reaction to certain medications. Whatever the cause, it is possible to even out the appearance of the gums, for a variety of purposes (aesthetics, hygiene, health).<\/p>\n

To achieve this, either a gingivoplasty or a gingivectomy is performed. The former aims to reshape the gums that surround the teeth in an irregular fashion, to make the appearance of the smile more uniform. The second involves the removal of excess tissue.
