Nervous Patients

For many people, visiting a dentist can be associated with feelings of anxiety, nervousness, and physical pain. Unfortunately for some, having had a bad dental experience in the past brings back these same thoughts and fears … We understand you and know that these emotions are very difficult to control. First of all, you are not alone and we have successfully treated people who suffered from extreme anxiety about dental care (tremors, loss of consciousness …).

If you suffer from dental anxiety (uncontrollable thoughts, cold sweats, heart palpitations, muscle tension …), the first thing to do is tell us! We have a number of very effective methods that can help you relax and finally have a pleasant experience with us. If, on the other hand, it is rather a real phobia of dental care, we will suggest conscious sedation where you can even snore during your treatments.

Nitrous oxide

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax.
Capture
Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is one option your dentist may offer to help make you more comfortable during certain procedures. It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions the dentist may have.

Your dentist will ask you to breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some people say their arms and legs feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed.

Talk to your dentist about whether nitrous oxide would be a good option for you.
